LISTEN: Grouplove - "Colours"

There are some songs that, on the surface, are held together by a standard pop structure (verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus...etc.). But, underneath the face of this familiar structure is a tension of sorts, a push that gives the songs heart and life. It's pure emotion boiling underneath that stirs up a surge of adrenaline in your blood -- you know what I'm talking about. There are those songs you hear that cause you to unknowingly turn the volume up as loudly as your ears will let you. They are songs that you feel through your whole body, because excitement comes in a tidal wave.

MP3: Grouplove - "Colours"

Grouplove is the type of band that sounds like a best friend, one that you always want to hang around with. They are a band that thrives on the strength of relationships; a band that is built on an inexplicable bond between a group of friends. Wrapped around a beating heart of acoustic guitar, Grouplove make smart indie rock 'n' roll, with subtle nods to the old L.A. folk/rock scene. "Colours" is a celebration of self, of taking pride in who you are. It's a reassuring song that starts off as a shy acoustic confessional and explodes into an anthem.
